Goodwill – Goodwill’s free online English classes are open to ALL levels of English speakers living in Allegheny County and offer beginner, intermediate, and advanced classes. New students over the age of 18 will take a short test in order to determine which class is the best fit. AIU – Allegheny Intermediate Unit – call 412-281-4494 or email adultesl@aiu3.net. They offer 3-5 hour on-line and in person ESL classes and family literacy classes (in Carnegie, Homestead and Duquesne). All must have adults 18 years or older. If a parent would like to also enroll with their child 8 years or younger (focus on 2-5 year olds), we have classes where parents can learn English/children learn separately and then also work on activities with their children in an additional class/event weekly.

ENGin is a global nonprofit building a future in which every young Ukrainian can confidently speak to foreigners in fluent, conversational English. We aim to connect Ukraine to the world in order to propel its postwar reconstruction and longer-term economic & social development. Our one-of-a-kind program pairs Ukrainian youth with English speakers for free online conversation practice and cross-cultural connection. VOLUNTEER TO PRACTICE ENGLISH: ENGin is a nonprofit that pairs young Ukrainians with English-speaking volunteers for free online conversation practice and cross-cultural exchange. ENGin was founded in early 2020 and has already served nearly 10,000 Ukrainians. Want to change a life without leaving home? ENGin, a US/Ukraine-based 501(c)3 nonprofit, urgently needs volunteers to practice English online with Ukrainian youth. Volunteering with ENGin is a unique, flexible opportunity to connect 1-on-1 with a Ukrainian in need and help them break the language barrier. We provide all training and materials.
* No prior experience or knowledge of Ukrainian is required
* 1 hour/week commitment (you pick the day/time)
* Minimum 10-12 weeks
